A family favourite is my Honey Grilled Chicken Wings. They have a bottomless stomach whenever this dish is served. Disappointment sets in when all of a sudden they notice there is only one wing left on the plate. Then the debate begins. Who gets the last wing and how many did each person have. It is quite ridiculous watching them count the number of bones on their plate. I hope you enjoy this as much as my family.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 lbs. Chicken Wings
- 1 tbsp. Sesame Oil
- 1 tbsp. Light soya sauce
- 1 tsp. Dark soya sauce (for colour)
- 1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp. Onion Powder
- 1 tbsp. Sweet paprika powder
- 1 tsp. Salt & pepper
- 1 tbsp. Honey
Optional (for presentation):
- White sesame seeds
- Green onions
- Seaweed Salad.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Wash the chicken wings thoroughly and then marinade with ingredients 2 – 8. Set aside in the fridge for at least 45 minutes. As a working mom, I like to do my food prep on the weekends, so I will set it aside overnight and then use it the next day.
- Using a George Foreman grill or Foodie Ninja Grill, cook the wings for about 10 minutes. Ensure the wings are thoroughly cooked. If you don’t have either appliance, you can bake the wings until it is thoroughly cooked (approximately 30 mins. ).
- Place the wings in a bowl and drizzle honey over the wings and mix. (This part, the kids can help out)
- Plate and serve
ALL ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:
I found that whenever the food is plated nicely, it seems to just taste better. I had my girls plate the chicken wings. Sprinkle a bit of white sesame seeds and a bit of chopped green onions on top of the wings. You can also put something in the middle such as seaweed salad and plate the chicken wings around it.
