During the pandemic, we haven’t been going out to enjoy brunch as often as we normally would. When we do go, my girls would order their favourite – Waffles topped with strawberries and whipped cream. So I took matters into my own hands. Well… I was convinced I could to do it by my better half, and do it better than the restaurants. I started off by researching which waffle maker to purchase and by researching, I mean I reached out to my good friend (E.L) who has a wealth of knowledge. I was out to make one purchase that will last me for many years. The expectation is to easily produce warm fluffy waffles for my family to enjoy and also freeze them so that we can easily have them during the weekdays for breakfast. As part of my mission, I was convinced I was never going to buy another box of Eggo’s for my girls. I ended up purchasing the Cuisinart 4 slice Belgian Waffle Maker for the following simple reasons:
- It produces 4 waffles at at time – we are a family of 4. This means we can all eat at the same time.
- The waffles are square.
- Clean up is not a daunting task.
- My good friend E.L highly recommended hers which has endured the test of time. That was enough for me.
I have to admit, I watched a few YouTube videos and then I was up to the challenge. I had a few boxes of pancake/waffle batter at home, (just add water type) but I will eventually make my batter from scratch – one step at at time.
The waffles turned out AMAZING! It was simple and quick. The process was rewarding as the girls felt they were getting the restaurant experience.
Tip:
It is all about the presentation. To make them look professional, plate the waffles nicely. Add fruit of your choice to the side, drizzle with some chocolate syrup, squirt some whip cream and sprinkle with a bit of icing sugar. It is as easy as that.
Chalk this one up as a BIG SUCCESS!
